Hampshire PGA's Annual Dinner

The Hampshire PGA's 61st Annual Dinner was hosted by Royal Winchester Golf Club last Friday night (24/2) and proved a resounding success.

Golfers from all over Hampshire enjoyed an evening of golfing entertainment in the company of Hampshire PGA Members and distinguished Guests.

Some excellent entertainment was provided by Hampshire PGA Captain Eddy Rawlings and after-dinner speaker Shep Woolley. The evening also included presentations to some of Hampshire's top Professionals, most notably the Matchplay Championship to Kevin Saunders (Brokenhurst Manor) and JRB Trainees Order of Merit to Rob Gowers (South Winchester). Ampfield's Jon Barnes was unable to attend due to illness so his Lawrence Clarke Order of Merit Award was collected by John Hazell.

The Annual Dinner Golf Tournament was won by David Manley (Southwick Park). Other winners included Chris Scott, Sam Smith and Andrew Buck, who all won superb prizes in an Annual Dinner Draw that boasted over 40 prizes.

Distinguished Guests included Hampshire PGA President David Harrison OBE, Eddie Bullock (PGA Captain), Liam Greasley (PGA Director of Regions & Membership), Sam Smith (Secretary, South Region PGA) and Gary Stubbington (Chairman, Hampshire PGA).

Hampshire PGA Secretary David Wheeler was very pleased with the 'new look' Annual Dinner. 'Rather than being housed at one particular venue the Dinner will now move around the County each year. Basingstoke Golf Club will be our host in 2013 and Rowlands Castle Golf Club in 2014, giving Hampshire Golfers the chance to come to the Dinner every two or three years without having to travel too far from home'.

The 2013 Annual Dinner will be held at Basingstoke Golf Club on Friday 22nd February.
