Gay Hill 2012 Opens

The 2012 open competitions fixture list at Gay Hill Golf Club has now been published. Golfers interested in playing in any of the 13 events are advised to book a place as soon as possible.

Something for the ladies

Gay Hill run four very popular ladies competitions during the year. Each one offers something slightly different but all provide a wonderful day of friendly competitive golf.

The pick of the bunch is perhaps the Team Am-Am on Saturday 18th August. It is a shotgun start and gives the working lady, unable to compete during the week, a chance to play at Gay Hill in a competition. Entry is just £48 per team of four - great value for weekend golf!

A 3-Ball Alliance is held on Wednesday 27th June (£39 per team) whilst a Betterball Pairs event (£24 per pair) takes place earlier in the year on Wednesday 23rd May.

Finally the annual Senior Ladies Pairs Open is scheduled for Tuesday 18th September and is open to ladies aged 50 year and over.

Mixed Golf

There are also four events for those seeking mixed golf. A Greensomes Stableford is held on Sunday 29th July and a Betterball Stableford takes place on Tuesday 4th September. Both have an entry-fee of £24 per couple and are open to men with a maximum handicap of 26 and ladies with a handicap of 34 or less. Another Greensomes will be played on Wednesday 6th June for golfers aged 55 or over whilst a Mixed Team Open goes ahead on Sunday 24th June.

Gents opens

The popular Gents Individual Open takes place on Sunday 15th July and represents fabulous value at just £15 per person. The Am-Am Medal on Friday 3rd August also gets subscribed quickly at £100 per team including a 2-course meal.

Seniors events

Both Seniors events usually become full very quickly too. The Individual Stableford on Friday 22nd June costs only £15 whilst the Betterball Stableford on Wednesday 9th May is £30 per pair. Both are open to men aged 55+.

Junior open

Finally, the Junior Open for golfers aged 18 and under has an entry-fee of £12 (including sandwiches & chips) and takes place on Friday 27th July.

Located south of Birmingham, Gay Hill Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole parkland course, offering a real test of golf, as well as a test of stamina! Although a relatively short course at 6,406 yards, the fairways are tight and the greens are fast – challenging but very enjoyable.
