Bromborough Golf Club 2012 Opens

It's easy to see why Bromborough was chosen to host the English Amateur Championship in 2005.

It is a true championship course and often referred to as the Wirral's Parkland Jewel. The club have now released details of their 2012 open competitions but you will need to be quick to secure a place.

A total of eight tournaments will be held throughout the year. Places are usually snapped up very quickly so please be quick if you want to experience this fabulous course.

The first event is a Team of Four event on the 4th June. Another Team Open is scheduled for early August whilst a third one will be played later that month. These three competitions are open to men and ladies with maximum handicaps of 28 and 36 respectively. They cost £76 per team and always become full early on in the year.

Senior golfers have a choice of two events. The first is played in June whilst a second one is held in September. Entry is £38 per pair for each tournament and the format is 4BBB Stableford for golfers aged 55+ with a handicap of 28 or less.

The popular Ladies Team Open is held during July for female golfers with a handicap of 36 or less. Meanwhile the Junior Open for under 18's takes place on the 20th August.

The Bromborough Bowl has moved in the diary to Sunday 12th August 2012 and will once again feature on the Northern Order of Merit schedule. Entry for this 36 Hole Individual Strokeplay championship is £32 and restricted to golfers with a handicap of 7 or less.

About Bromborough
Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as a hidden gem of a Golf Course.

For over 100 years golfers have been tackling the distinctive 18 holes that play between 6300 and 6600 yards depending on tees used. The quality of the course can be evidenced by its selection to host the English Amateur Matchplay Championship in 2005, English Men’s Seniors Championship 2003 and Cheshire Matchplay 2010.

The course is notable for its many species of trees, copses and ponds that all add to the visual appeal. USGA standard greens and the year round equable climate provide good playing conditions 12 months of the year with temporary greens very rarely in use.

The holes have been carefully fashioned utilising the natural contours of the land that are gently undulating rather than excessively hilly, with the holes around the turn providing a particularly good test of golf.
