Wakefield Golf Club Opens

Often referred to as Woodthorpe, Wakefield Golf Club is a superb course located in the heart of West Yorkshire offering a true test of golf.

It is one of those venues that should be added to your 'to play' list as soon as possible. And with four events finalised for 2012 these represent an excellent opportunity to do just that!

Gents Open
The first event is the Gents Pairs Open, a 4BBB Stableford, which has an entrance fee of just £30 per pair! It will be played on Sunday 24th June and places will fill up quickly.

Mixed Open
Players looking for mixed golf will be pleased to hear the annual Mixed Team Open will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August. Times are limited so once again golfers are advised to send their entry off asap. The cost is £70 per team (2 men & 2 ladies).

Seniors Open
Gentlemen golfers aged 55+ are usually quick off the mark to secure their place in the annual Senior Pairs Open at Woodthorpe. In 2012 it will take place on Thursday 5th July. The format is 4BBB and entry is £36 per pair. This includes coffee on arrival, halfway house refreshments and the 2's club.

Rabbits Open
The Rabbits Open Day, on Sunday 16th September, is another event where you can't afford to hang around if you want to ensure a start-time. At £25 per pair this event is open to players with a handicap of 12 and above. The format is 4BBB Stableford.

More about Wakefield
One of the region’s most prestigious courses, Wakefield Golf Club is set in undulating parkland with views over Wakefield and the surrounding countryside.

It is a mature course where each hole is very individual offering challenges to golfers of all abilities. Whilst many fairways are tree lined you are unlikely to lose your ball if you stray into them as the grass is kept short.

Greens have true putting surfaces playable all year round. The two loops of nine holes each start and return to the clubhouse.
