SEAN Towndrow won his first Cleveland Srixon Northern Order of Merit event of the season with a pair of 73s in the Bromborough Bowl.
The 19-year-old 2010 Lancashire champion prevailed by three shots from Southport & Ainsdale clubmate Mark Rabone on a windy day on the Wirral.
And victory moved him into second in the rankings, reducing the gap on Huyton & Prescot’s newly crowned county champion John Carroll to 210 points.
Towndrow, two-over-par in total, scored a hat-trick of birdies from the sixth hole in his second round but his card also revealed four bogeys.
Third on countback was Enville’s Steve Watton while fourth placed Steve McGlynn, from Blackburn, leapfrogged into fifth spot in the table.
