IT was first time lucky for rookie professional Andrew Terry when he shared top prize in the Fairhaven pro-am.
The 26-year-old trainee assistant at Rochdale club Marland had never previously played in a PGA event.
But he cut some of the region's big guns down to size with a five-under-par 69 matched by Lee Park's Chris Crowder.
"I surprised myself," said the former Lancashire County amateur after his six birdie haul. "I singled putted eight greens and a couple of them were from 40 feet."
Terry, who learned the game as a youngster at Hopwood Cottage, picked up his only bogey at the 16th.
And he was delighted finish a shot in front seasoned professionals Andrew Murray and David Shacklady.
"I've always admired them and followed their careers," he added.
DETAILS: 69 Chris Crowder (Lee Park), Andrew Terry (Marland); 70 David Shacklady (Mossock Hall); 72 Simon Edwards (Windermere), Craig Corrigan (Haigh Hall), Andrew Murray (Portal), Anthony Sproston (A&E Golf Academy); 73 Grant Hamerton (Brookdale).
