Lakes & Dales Golf Festival

The 2011 Lakes & Dales Golf Festival is taking place during the first week in June.

You can play on the wonderful courses of Grange-over-Sands, Bentham and Silverdale for an amazing £12.50 per player, per competition. The week-long series of tournaments would make an ideal golfing break or even just a fabulous day of golf.

Bentham Golf Club
There are nine events in total at the three clubs and you can play in as many or as few as you wish.

To enter please print off the entry-form, fill it in and send off with your cheque. Please don’t leave it too late, we would hate for you to miss out.

Bentham Golf Club is situated in the Three Peaks area of North Yorkshire which is famous for its wonderful scenery and the stunning views from the course provide a welcome distraction for players who are struggling with their game.

The course has been described as the Augusta of The Dales because it looks so attractive and it features seven ponds. The signature hole is the 8th, a par 3, where you look down from an elevated tee to an inviting green which lies tantalisingly on the other side of a pond.

Many visitors have commented on the outstanding quality of the greens and even more of them discovered that it is the most friendly of clubs, which offers a warm welcome to new members and visitors alike.

Silverdale Golf Club
Silverdale Golf Club’s 18 hole course is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and also one of a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It has wonderful views across the RSPB Nature Reserve to Morecambe Bay and to the Lakeland and Howgill Fells.

The course par of 70 plays 5,592 yards and is one of two halves, open parkland and tight narrow valleys with heath land and limestone pavement. From each hole there are delightful views, abundant flora and birdlife. The early morning golfer may be joined by roe and fallow deer. It is home to the rare Ladies Slipper orchid. It is an exciting course and one in which boredom never sets in. As the course is on limestone the drainage is good so we rarely close in poor weather.

Grange-over-Sands Golf Club
Meanwhile, a peaceful, tranquil countryside and coastal golf course awaits you at Grange over Sands Golf Club, where sensational views of the woods and open countryside that encircles it make for one of the most visually attractive courses in the Cumbria district.

Built in the 1920s this eighteen-hole course offers a par of 70 and has something to challenge all level of golfer. The clubhouse also offers exceptional views, overlooking the course towards the hills and mountains of the Lake District in the distance, and the flowering shrubs provide colour all year round.
