The 12th of October will be a day celebrated for many years to come for 10 golfers from the Marriott Meon Valley Golf Club. The competition was the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge Final, sponsored by YourGolfTravel.com. The course, The Brabazon at The Belfry, off the tees used for the Ryder Cup. The result, playing the game of their lives to become The Help for Heroes 2010 National Golf Club Challenge Champions.
As Champions, Marriott Meon Valley will be awarded the stunning Lee Westwood Cup, a brand new trophy made by Wedgwood to the same exacting high standards as the WGC trophies, and donated in aid of Help for Heroes. The winning golfers will also enjoy a fantastic golfing holiday to Egypt.

Filmed by GolfBug.tv (watch it), The National Golf Club Challenge Grand Final was a fitting conclusion to what has become the UK’s largest charity amateur golf event, in aid of Help for Heroes. The grand final brought together six of the top scoring golf clubs from hundreds of qualifying events held throughout the nation over the same weekend in July this year.
With each participating golf club generously contributing by hosting their own charity golf day as part of the qualifier, the Challenge competition is on course to raising over a quarter of a million pounds for the Help for Heroes charity.
Event director, Stacey Jeffries commented "The National Golf Club Challenge has become a wonderful success in 2010 only because of the sensational support we have received from global sponsors, international superstars, hard working golf clubs and the generosity of the Great British golfing community."

In speaking of the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge drawing to a fitting conclusion, Stacey went on to say "We now look forward to the 4th and 5th of June 2011, when golfers throughout the UK will again have the chance to show their love for the great game of golf and their unyielding support for our injured heroes by taking part in the second running of The National Golf Club Challenge supporting Help for Heroes. After its tremendously successful launch year, the National Golf Club Challenge will double in size in 2011 with a new event in support of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation, working in partnership with Cancer Research UK. The Help for Heroes event will take place on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of June 2011, with a new nationwide Seve Ballesteros Foundation event on the 23rd and 24th of July, a week after the 2011 Open Championship.
