MARK Ashworth called the shots in the Revidge Cannon at Blackburn for the third successive year.
But the Clitheroe player cut it fine, getting the verdict on a better second round after tying with Mitsushiba Northern Order of Merit leader Mark Young.
It was Ashworth’s second success in six days after finishing top amateur in the James Brearley Lancashire Open at Blackpool North Shore.
He followed a level par 71 with 67 which he started with birdies at the opening two holes and later added three more to his tally, dropping his only shot of the round at the short 16th.
Meanwhile, Lancashire player Young, from Longridge, extended his merit lead to 210 points over Hillside’s Richie Blundell with eight events remaining.
