HEYSHAM professional Joe Senior, playing in only his third event of the season, won the Lakes Classic at Windermere after a storming finish to his second round.
The 27-year-old, who’s spent most of the year running demo days for an equipment firm, grabbed five birdies in his last seven holes for a 60 which, added to his opening 66, gave him an eight-under-par total.
His victory helped to compensate for losing a three-way play-off in the James Brearley Lancashire Open at Blackpool North Shore last week.
David Shacklady, the most prolific winner on the PGA North Region circuit, was a shot back after rounds of 65 and 62 while three behind him in a tie for third place were host club pro Simon Edwards and Wychwood Park’s Richard Bean who both fired a pair of 65s.
