TWO handicapper Daniel Young came up to scratch to win his first Mitsushiba Northern Order of Merit title but he cut in fine as he claimed the Bosden Trophy at Hazel Grove.
The Prestbury player got the verdict on countback after his rounds of 69 and 70, three-under-par in total, were matched by Ashton-in-Makerfield’s Adam Andrews.
The decision rested on the final nine holes which Young covered in 33, minus three, thanks to an eagle at the 262-yard 15th.
He started and finished his first round with a pair of birdies, also marking down a quartet of bogeys. His clubmate James Newton pulled up two shots short in third place.
Lancashire player Andrews, winner of the Calvert Trophy at Ashton & Lea in June, moved fifth in the merit 425 points behind leader Mark Young from Longridge.
