THE season just gets better and better for PGA North Region professionals.
Titleist-Footjoy have confirmed they will sponsor the Order of Merit, which features a record eight tournaments, and have offered one-year playing deals to the top six.
And the company have also agreed to provide shoe and ball contracts to the leading three players in the Assistants’ Order of Merit.
Additionally, Surrey-based The Golf Business, for whom Ian Poulter’s brother Danny is course guide manager, will hand out clothing contracts to the top two in the merit and to the leading assistant.
And assistants will also benefit from £3,000 cash injection by range finders SkyCaddie, a PGA partner, who have donated a similar amount to all seven regions.
“We are certainly bucking the trend this season despite the economic situation,” said regional secretary Graham Maly.
“SkyCaddie’s input means we can revive the Assistants’ Championship after an absence of several years though lack of funding.”
The 36-hole tournament will be played at De Vere Mottram Hall on August 10 and more extra money will be provided to boost the prize-fund.
