MARTIN Edge called the shots in the opening event on the Lancashire Players’ Tour with a seven-under-par 65 at Fleetwood.
The Hesketh assistant professional dropped a stroke at the first hole then ripped the course apart with six birdies and an eagle at the 15th.
Haigh Hall’s ever-consistent Alan Crompton was runner-up with 66 as county PGA secretary Jeff Mathews, from Mytton Fold, tied third with matchplay champion Barry Taylor, an assistant at Houghwood, a shot further back.
Top trainee was Ashton-in-Makerfield’s Liam Kenealy who signed for a 70.
