Fleetwood quick out of the blocks

Northern Order of Merit
ENGLAND player Tommy Fleetwood produced the irrepressible form that has earned him a place in the Walker Cup squad by storming to the top of the Mitsushiba Northern Order of Merit after the opening two fixtures.
The Formby Hall prodigy won the Southport & Ainsdale Bowl with near perfect rounds of 69 and 68, five-under-par overall, then claimed third place in the Formby Hare over the course where he won the Lancashire County Championship 11 months ago.
Fleetwood, a beaten finalist in the British Amateur at Turnberry last season, plundered seven birdies at Southport and Ainsdale as he finished three shots clear of county team-mate James Robinson from the host club.
James Wilson, 19, capitalised on home advantage to take the plaudits in the Formby Hare, birdying the last two holes in each round of 73 and 69, two-under-par in total, to deny Chorley’s Michael Hearn by a shot.
