Bedford stays on a roll

CHESHIRE County champion Mike Bedford continued in his rich vein of form when he won the Prestbury Open over his home course.

It was his second victory in eight days in the Mitsushiba Northern Order of Merit following his success in the Bromborough Bowl.

And it hoisted him into joint second place in the table with Formby Hall international Tommy Fleetwood who have moved to within 30 points of Mark Young, the title holder from Longridge.

Bedford fired rounds of 69 and 68, five-under-par all told, as he won by four strokes from Pleasington’s former Lancashire Boys’ champion Jack Brooks. Daniel Osbaldeston, another Prestbury member, was third a shot further back.
