Corrigan shares the spoils again

CRAIG Corrigan is not having things all his own way in PGA North Region pro-ams this winter.

The Haigh Hall teaching professional, joint first in the Mansell Finishes Series at Royal Liverpool in December, had to settle for a share of top prize again at Fairhaven where his five-under-par 67 was matched by Welshman Simon Edwards.

Corrigan slotted his fifth birdie at the final hole to deny his Windermere adversary, who also picked up five shots during a flawless round as Penwortham’s Darren Hopwood finished third on 68.

Meanwhile, a big field is expected at Royal Liverpool next Wednesday (March 4) for the fourth of the six Mansell events. Edwards is 12 points adrift of Romiley’s Matthew Ellis in the Order of Merit as Corrigan trails by 23.

LEADING SCORES: 67 Craig Corrigan (Haigh Hall), Simon Edwards (Windermere); 68 Darren Hopwood (Penwortham); 70 Chris Crowder (Lee Park); 71 Alan Crompton (Haigh Hall), Chris Mathews (Samlesbury Golf Centre); 72 Andrew Baguley (Leigh), Tim Maxwell (Knutsford), Steve Parry (unatt).
